Optimising stability and maneuverability in manual wheelchairs within a multidisciplinary team – the project goal is to develop a device and methodology to determine the seated position of a wheelchair user, through the calculation of the centre of gravity, to assess, monitor and potentially improve clinical practices and user outcomes at the Royal Melbourne Hospital’s Specialist Wheelchair and Seating Clinic.

Wilson came to Melbourne in 1971 for the 9th IFMBE Conference organised by the President of the IFMBE, Dr David Dewhurst. Wilson presented the design for the Greatbatch battery, a lithium based design encased in titanium. Read this amazing history on the ETHW website. Wilson was the guest of Dr Graeme Sloman, the pioneer in pacemakers in Australia and visited The Royal Melbourne Hospital to meet the cardiology and biomedical engineering staff.
