Abstract

The aim of the presentation is to give participants a greater understanding of electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) and to examine methods of obtaining the best test results with good preparation. Quality assurance testing of the equipment will also be examined.

Biography

Mr Paul Burmeister is a Biomedical Engineer with 30 years of experience in many different areas. His experience includes two years at the Royal Children’s Hospital as a Biomedical Engineer, eight years in neurophysiology at the Alfred, eight years in the area of anaesthetic and ventilation equipment at the Alfred and CE at Mayo Healthcare. Moreover, he has been a cardiac pacemaker representative for Biotronik and now the last 12 years has been at Southern Health as a Biomedical Engineer. He also has an interest and degree in Psychology.
